MEET THE TEAM

MELODY, Founder

Melody is a multi-talented tour de force, passionate about making useful things and living close to the land. She especially loves helping other curious folks by teaching them what she had to figure out the hard way.

Melody got her start making the sorts of things most people don't bother with when her mom taught her to sew at age 5. Summers at Rowe Center, a radical youth camp in the Berkshires inspired Melody to take up knitting and cooking, but more importantly, Rowe impressed upon her the power of community, inclusivity, boundary-pushing ideas, and the greater good.

Melody studied Fashion Design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY , and later earned a degree in Art Education from the City College of New York. In her free time she was gardening, fermenting, binding books and blogging about it all.

At 25, Melody left the big city for a small house with a big garden in Northampton, MA. Together with now-husband Chris Figge, they created a laundry list of wild dreams and set to work making them happen. One of those dreams was to open a store, and we combined our passions, talents and curiosities into an unlikely business in a burgeoning field.

They raised a bit of money from family, friends & neighbors to build their vision, signed the lease on a fixer-upper in November 2013 in Easthampton, MA and opened their doors in March 2014 as The Haberdashery. After two years of incredible growth on a steep learning curve, the business was re-branded in August 2016 as Revival Homestead Supply.

In October of 2016 Melody launched the wholesale product line, and in February of 2017 they learned that 18 month old Hester was being exposed to lead while spending her days with Melody at the store. They made the sudden, bittersweet decision to close the storefront. They intended to re-open in a new space, but the universe had other plans for them. Revival now operates from a private studio selling our line of DIY kits online and through other brick-and-mortar retailers, sending thousands of kits to retailers coast to coast, and employing the fabulous Katie to keep the wheels turning. Meanwhile Melody spends much of her time teaching Applied Arts at South Hadley High School and parenting the wee ones. She still guides the Revival ship, focusing primarily on product design, website management and marketing.

It's been a wild ride, but we're better for it. We hope you find helpful knowledge and inspiration here!

Katie, Production Manager

Katie joined Revival in June of 2022, and quickly proved herself to be an indispensable and delightful addition to our tiny team, wearing all the hats and keeping Revival working like a well-oiled machine.

Katie grew up in Chicopee, MA and now resides in Springfield, MA. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a bachelor’s degree in Communication in 2007, concentrating in both interpersonal communication and media studies. After college, Katie spent time in a few “traditional” 9 to 5 jobs in the medical field. These paid her bills but did not feed her soul. After having enough of that, she courageously pivoted and accepted a position as HR Manager with a large local organic farm. This work was closer to what she wanted to be doing, but still not her goal. Helping others has always been her compass. In the fall of 2020, she took the opportunity to fulfill a dream by applying to Kripalu after seeing an ad for online yoga teacher training.

Katie is passionate about connecting people to local food and exploring the connection between the food we eat and our health. In her free time she enjoys cooking and baking new gluten-free recipes from Pinterest. She also loves home improvement projects, and the process of making and creating. This year, she and her partner grew a huge backyard garden; they are enjoying canning and preserving the harvest together.
